Different Strokes is a software system for performing music on a computer. It aims to allow a performer to create much of his or her performance sequences on-stage instead of relying on prepared control material. The program resembles a freehand drawing application. The drawn strokes create animated figures whose motion is mapped to sample playback. The musician performs by assembling networks of strokes live, generating audio patterns. ===== Media ===== ===== Downloads ===== The full list of files, including any previous releases, can be found at http://idmil.org/pub/software/different_strokes. ^ File ^ Description ^ | current git repo (to be moved to idmil's account) | updated source code for OSX10.11/Linux | | ds-20150217.zip | Compiled binary for OSX 10.11 (run .command file) | | ds-20070108-r1527.tar.gz | Source Code (Mac OSX, old snapshot (2007)) | | differentstrokes_jan13_2010.dmg| Compiled version (Mac OSX / Intel, January 2010) | | differentstrokes_jan13_2010_OSX_10.4.dmg| Compiled version (Mac OSX 10.4, January 2010) | ---- ===== More Information and Publications ===== * Graphical Interfaces for Musical Performance and Improvisation
