Cristiano Alves began his musical studies at the age of seven and when he was ten, he had his first contact with the clarinet, at the Salesiano Symphonic Band, under the guidance of Maestro Affonso Reis. Born in Niteroi, he studied with José Carlos de Castro and received guidance from many of great Brazilian clarinetists as well as numerous international and renowned professors. He holds several awards in national competitions and graduated with “summa cum laude” at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), where he also completed his Master degree. He is now attending to his doctorate in music at Campinas State University (Unicamp). He participated in more than one hundred recordings, including performances with great artists of Brazilian popular music as well as chamber and symphonic music.
